Participant Instructions
Thank you for taking part in this survey. The aim of the survey is to map the risk of female genital mutilation at ward level in the West Midlands.
I am interested in anecdotal evidence about female genital mutilation, so you don’t need to back up your answer with any data. Getting anecdotal evidence from lots of people in the West Midlands will help to understand female genital mutilation risk in the borough.
What you need to do
Step 1. On the registration page, you will be asked to read over the participant information sheet and accept this if you feel comfortable. You will need to say which parts of the West Midlands you know.
Step 2. After this, you will be shown pairs of wards in the West Midlands. I would like you to say which of the wards you think has a higher rate of female genital mutilation. For each pair of wards, you will have three options:
- If you think a particular ward has a higher rate of female genital mutilation, please select that ward and click continue.
- If you think both wards have the same risk of female genital mutilation, please click both wards and click continue.
- If you don’t know a ward or you want to skip a pair of wards, please click the skip button
After you have made a decision for each pair, you will be shown a new pair. It would be helpful if you can make at least 30 comparisons. There is a counter at the top of the page to keep track.
